The "Santa Maria" church is the oldest building in Moclinejo and dates
from the 16th century. The church already mentions documents from 1505.
The renovation takes place in 1725. Here are different stems mix,
Mudajardstiel, Gothic elements, Baroque style and Jewish style. The bell
tower has beautiful Moorish acards. The wrought iron grilles, which are
the special features of this church, are in a modernist style.
The
church is made up of a single nave with a roof structure and adjacent
semicircular arches separated by smooth stone columns and Doric
capitals. It is a building from the XVI. Century with reconstruction in
the XVIII. Century and changes in recent times. The Moors later repaired
the church. The tower is low, very heavy, and marked with several
bodies with supports. It is located at the foot of the Epistle ship, is
square and has pyramid tiles. Together with the gospel there are
pictures of St. Bartholomew, the Blessed Virgin and a crucified man who
is in the middle of the high altar.
